Jan Viljoen has been working with individuals and groups for more than forty years. In 2012 he established a private practice in Pretoria, South Africa, where he specializes in trauma debriefing, life stress counselling, pastoral counselling and people suffering from Post Traumatic Stress Disorder.
As Coordinator and Administrator he played a major role in the design and roll out of the South African National Defence Force Chaplain General's HIV/AIDS Prevention Program: Combating Aids Through Spiritual & Ethical Conduct.
Aside from his practice, he also presents workshops and courses to professionals as well as lay people interested in expanding their knowledge and skills. In his capacity of retired Head of Pastoral Services of 1 Military Hospital, Pretoria, he acts as public and motivational speaker. At several times he has been a guest on TV and radio programs.
Jan is also known as a creative writer of stories and sketches. Some of his stories were published in magazines and broadcast on South African Radio. Recently he published a book in Afrikaans on Applied Meta Psychology (Anderkant Trauma Verby)
Jan is Internationally registered with TIRA (Traumatic Incident Reduction Association) as an accredited TIR Facilitator & Certified TIR Trainer. Locally he is registered with TIRA-SA and The Council for Councellors in South Africa: Reg No: CO 1569
